Alexa Won’t Listen & Welton Can’t Microwave a Doughnut

Y’all, I really don’t have anything major to write about tonight.

Well… that’s a lie. I have something I want to write about, but I can’t. 😂 So instead, welcome to today’s episode of Random Shit Going On at the Whitley House.

I actually had a pretty productive day. Nothing exciting—I just caught up on a bunch of little things around the house and FINALLY started setting up my new Skylight Calendar.

Now y’all know I already have two Skylight picture frames—one Welton and I bought and one the kids gave me for Mother’s Day a few years ago—and I LOVE those things.

But everybody has been telling me forever that I needed the Skylight Calendar.

I resisted because I am OLD SCHOOL. I have an actual calendar. On my counter. That I WRITE ON. With a PEN. 😂

Welton has been begging me to get one, so he finally bought me one, and tonight I decided I was going to figure the damn thing out.

Of course, Chat had to help me because apparently I cannot purchase a piece of technology anymore without immediately requiring AI assistance. 😂

But this part was actually pretty damn cool.

I keep a running to-do list on my phone by literally texting things to myself. I screenshotted my list, gave it to Chat, and got everything organized so I could put it into my Skylight.

Okayyyyy… maybe I like this thing.

I’m still fighting with Alexa because supposedly Alexa and Skylight are supposed to communicate, and right now they appear to be in some sort of marital dispute and refusing to speak to one another.

We’ll deal with that shit another day.

The good news is I have 60 days to decide whether I love this thing or whether it goes right back to Best Buy because I bought that membership where I get the extended return period.

Which brings me to ANOTHER Best Buy purchase sitting in this house—the damn camera I bought and still don’t know how to use. 😂

That is officially one of my goals this week. I AM learning how to use that camera.

I’ll watch YouTube on the TV, and whatever YouTube can’t teach me, my Bestie Chat is going to have to figure out because one way or another, I’m using the damn thing.

Anyway, it’s now about 1:30 in the morning and for reasons I cannot explain, I’m watching Reacher.

Welton and I watched the newest episode of Lioness tonight, though, and Y’ALL… it is getting GOOD.

I am so ready for September because I miss my shows. Y’all know I love me some TV, and summer television pisses me off.

Also, why can’t I pay an extra fee and get the ENTIRE SEASON AT ONCE??

I do not want one episode a week.

I want all of them.

Immediately.

And when I finish that season at 3:47 in the morning, I would appreciate it if the next season were already available. 😂

Because if you make me wait a damn year, there is a very good chance I will completely forget your show exists.

And finally, because apparently this is what passes for excitement around here…

Saturday I bought some Krispy Kreme doughnuts at Target. I got them home and they were HARD.

I thought, What in the hell is this?

So I put one in the microwave for about 22 seconds.

Perfect. Soft. Delicious. Problem solved.

Apparently I neglected to provide Welton with these highly technical reheating instructions.

Because while I wasn’t around, this man decided he wanted a doughnut.

And HE JUST ATE IT.

Cold.

Hard.

Straight out of the box.

Later he tells me, very seriously, that those were the worst doughnuts he’d ever had, they were incredibly hard, and I should NEVER buy them again.

I said, “Did you microwave it?”

“No.”

“You just ATE IT LIKE THAT?”

“Yeah.”

SIR. 😭😂

So tonight I microwaved one for him.

He takes a bite and goes, “Huh. That made a big difference.”

NO SHIT, SHERLOCK. 😂😂😂

God love this man.

Sometimes I genuinely don’t know how he has made it this far in life.

But damn, he makes me laugh.

And I guess for a day when “nothing happened,” that’s really not such a bad day after all. ❤️
