I May Get Canceled for This One 😂
Okay, this is going to be a short one because I already wrote enough tonight, but while I was writing about money, I started thinking about something else that I probably shouldn’t say out loud.
But when has that ever stopped me?
I am probably going to get canceled for this one. 😂
Sometimes I see people—and yes, I’m especially talking about people with a LOT of money—and I genuinely do not understand how they decide what they’re going to spend their money on.
You’ll spend $30,000 on a Birkin.
You’ll spend $25,000 on an outfit.
You’ll spend $250,000 on a car.
And I’m sitting over here thinking…
Girl. Please go get your hair done.
😂😂😂
I KNOW. I KNOW.
That’s terrible.
But seriously.
You have a Birkin on your arm and your hair looks like actual straw.
HOW DID WE GET HERE?
Or you’ll have on head-to-toe designer clothes, $10,000 worth of jewelry, fabulous shoes and sunglasses that cost more than my electric bill…
And I’m looking at your makeup thinking, Surely somebody in your tax bracket can teach you how to blend.
There. I said it.
And teeth!
I’m not saying everybody needs veneers. They absolutely do not. And obviously, I’m not talking about people who simply can’t afford expensive cosmetic things.
I’m talking about somebody who can casually spend $25,000 shopping on a Tuesday.
If you’re spending that kind of money, I KNOW you have access to a good dentist.
So sometimes I just don’t understand the priorities.
You’ll spend thousands and thousands of dollars on clothes, bags, shoes and jewelry, but you’re bleaching your own hair at home and wondering why it looks like straw.
Girl, PUT THE BLEACH DOWN. 😂
Go spend some of that Birkin money on a really good hairdresser.
But then I started thinking about it, and maybe this says more about me than it does about them.
Maybe appearance is simply something that’s important to me.
I’d rather spend money getting my hair done, having my eyebrows waxed, keeping my toes looking decent, taking care of my skin or fixing something about myself that’s bothering me than spend $25,000 on a handbag.
And I’m certainly not saying I’m walking around here looking perfect.
Please.
I currently need Botox so badly that my forehead could probably qualify for its own zip code.
And do you know why I haven’t gotten it?
Not because I can’t afford the Botox.
Because I’m too damn lazy to drive all the way to my Botox person to get it.
😂
And yes, my hair is important to me.
I spend the extra money to go to somebody who knows what they’re doing. I get it blown out every week because I like for my hair to look nice.
But will I also wait two or three weeks longer than I should to get something done because I don’t feel like dealing with it?
Absolutely.
So I’m certainly not sitting over here pretending I have all my shit together either.
I guess it really does come down to what is important to each of us.
One woman might look at me and think I’m completely insane for spending money to have my hair blown out every week.
Meanwhile, I might look at her and think, You just spent $30,000 on a purse. Why in God’s name are you bleaching your own hair?
😂😂😂
Neither one of us is necessarily right.
We just care about different shit.
And maybe that’s what spending really tells you—not necessarily how much money somebody has, but what matters to them.
For me, I’d rather have good hair, nice teeth, decent skin, my eyebrows waxed and my toenails looking good than carry a $30,000 handbag.
Would I ALSO like the $30,000 handbag?
Well, hell yes.
Let’s not get carried away. 😂
But if I had to choose where that money was going, I know what I’d choose.
And somebody else might choose completely differently.
Maybe that’s why I notice it so much. The things I think, Oh my God, FIX THAT, might not bother that person one damn bit.
Meanwhile, I’m walking around needing Botox because I can’t be bothered to drive across town and get it.
So who am I to talk?
Apparently, we all have our priorities. 😂
But I still want to know:
Have you ever seen somebody spend an absolute fortune on one thing while completely ignoring something else and thought, “I do NOT understand your priorities”?
Because I do.
All. The. Time.
