Feeling Off!!

Y’all know I’m an oversharer, so I’m just going to be honest: yesterday and today, I’ve felt a little off about my social media.

I looked at my Instagram and thought, “What in the world am I doing?” It feels all over the place. My lighting needs work, my pictures and videos need to be better, and sometimes my face looks so filtered and plastic in my Stories that I don’t even look like myself. I keep wondering why I can’t just get it perfect—but I also know everybody has to start somewhere.

Technology has never come easily to me, and I’ve spent the last six months trying to figure out what works. This morning, while I was driving to get my hair done—and judging everybody else’s driving, because apparently I’m the only one who knows how—I realized I need a plan. I’m trying to do too much.

I want my posts, Stories, and videos to feel connected instead of random. And the thread tying everything together needs to be my jewelry, because that was the whole reason I started building these pages. Thank God, my jewelry business is doing very well—but I want to grow it even more.

I’m still going to share the things I truly love: fashion, beautiful restaurants, travel, my grandbabies, rodeo, western style, and yes, Amazon finds. But I’ve realized that Amazon may not deserve as much of my energy. In the last couple of days, I’ve had around 30 orders and made about $30. By the time I order everything, unpack it, iron it, try it on, film it, pack half of it back up, and return it, I feel like I’m spinning my wheels. Revolve pays much better, and jewelry is the business I’m really trying to build.

That doesn’t mean I’ll stop sharing affordable things I genuinely like. I just refuse to recommend clothes or shoes I haven’t tried myself, because Amazon can be a 50/50 shot. I may simply need to do less of it and be more intentional.

Someone recently told me I need to wear makeup and get out of my pajamas. I’m not going to lie—it hurt my feelings. But here’s the truth: I’m not a full-face-of-makeup-every-day girl, and I’m not going to pretend to be one. I’ll work on my lighting, fix my hair, put on some mascara and lipstick, and maybe upgrade the pajamas occasionally. But I love my pajamas. Who knows? I might become the pajama girl, create my own line, and sell the hell out of them one day. 😂

I’m not sad, and I’m not giving up. I just feel like I haven’t pulled it all together yet. I’ve actually been influencing people for years—with purses, shoes, jewelry, parties, and all the things I love—even before “influencer” became a job title. So I know I can do this.

Right now, I’m still experimenting. In a month or so, I’ll have someone helping me build a more structured social media plan. Until then, I’m going to stop trying to do everything, focus more on what actually matters, and give myself permission to learn as I go.

It doesn’t have to be perfect today. It just needs to start looking and feeling more like me.
