I Had Big Plans Today. I Did Almost None of Them. šŸ˜‚

Y’all, I screwed up today.

Not in a life-altering, call-an-attorney kind of way. More in a ā€œI had an entire plan for my day and accomplished approximately none of itā€ kind of way.

Remember how I told y’all that Friday was supposed to be my BIG ERRAND DAY? I was going to get everything done, come home, lock myself inside my house, and not reappear in society until Tuesday.

That was the dream.

Well, I got a late start Friday, didn’t finish my errands, and decided Welton and I would finish them today.

Guess who did not run one single errand today?

šŸ™‹šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

I could NOT get motivated.

I didn’t want to get dressed. I didn’t want to leave my house. I didn’t want to participate in society. I wanted to stay home, mess around on my phone, and mind my own business.

So that is pretty much what I did.

I DID make some Instagram Story videos, though, because I’m trying to be more… intentional? Deliberate? Consistent? I don’t know what the word is, but I’m trying to stop acting like Instagram is some kind of final exam I forgot to study for.

Facebook does not do this to me.

I have had my Facebook since approximately 2009, and I will make an absolute fool out of myself over there without a second thought. šŸ˜‚

I’ll say anything. Post anything. Tell y’all anything. I don’t care.

At this point, if the people on my Facebook were tired of me, they’ve had about 17 years to hit DELETE. And trust me, during the years when I got way too involved in all the political BS, there was already a pretty substantial cleaning of the friend list—from BOTH directions. šŸ˜‚

So Facebook feels like home.

Instagram feels like I’m walking into a room where everybody turns around and looks at me.

And listen, I can handle being judged. That’s not really the problem. It just feels like some weird test that I’m going to fail.

Facebook Tammy: ā€œY’all, let me tell you what happenedā€¦ā€

Instagram Tammy: ā€œIs this lighting okay? Am I talking too much? Is this stupid? Do people care? Why am I doing this?ā€

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.

Anyway, I made the videos, so I’m counting that as an accomplishment.

Meanwhile, My Table Is Still a Disaster

I have an entire MESS sitting on my table that I was supposed to go through this weekend.

I also have clothes I picked up from alterations that I need to try on to make sure everything fits correctly.

Did I do either one today?

Absolutely not.

So now tomorrow—Sunday—we HAVE to finish the errands.

And I have already made Welton promise me that when tomorrow comes and I start saying:

ā€œI really don’t think I need to goā€¦ā€

ā€œI can probably do it Mondayā€¦ā€

ā€œMaybe I’ll just stay homeā€¦ā€

He is required to MAKE ME LEAVE THE HOUSE.

Tonight he told me, ā€œYou would be perfectly happy staying in this house all the time.ā€

And you know what?

He’s right. šŸ˜‚

I really would.

Every once in a while I want to go eat somewhere. I obviously love to travel. I’ll go run my errands when absolutely necessary.

But otherwise?

Give me my pajamas, my dogs, my phone, my TV, my projects, and my house and I AM GOOD.

I have friends who are constantly moving and shaking. Every time I talk to them they’re going somewhere, doing something, meeting somebody, attending something…

And I’m thinking:

AREN’T Y’ALL TIRED???

They are Energizer Bunnies.

Meanwhile, I’m perfectly happy at home at 11:30 at night still working on my phone in my pajamas.

And the weird thing is, I’m completely different when we travel.

When we travel, I turn into a cruise director.

I have plans from 8:00 AM until bedtime.

Welton will say, ā€œCan we please have ONE DAY where we don’t have plans?ā€

NO.

We did not fly across the world to sit in this hotel room. GET YOUR SHOES ON. šŸ˜‚

But at home?

Please do not make me go do people things.

And Then There’s the Chinese Buffet Situation

Welton has been telling me for THREE DAYS that he wants to go eat at this Chinese buffet.

Y’all.

I don’t want to go. šŸ˜‚

It is not my favorite.

I’m also not a huge buffet person because I always feel like I eat way too much food just because it’s THERE.

And if I’m going to consume 47,000 calories, I want those calories to be spectacular.

I want to leave thinking, ā€œWorth every calorie.ā€

I do not want to leave thinking, ā€œDid I really need that third mediocre egg roll?ā€

But Welton LOVES this place.

So for the last three days, I’ve been doing what any mature wife would do.

Pretending I didn’t hear him.

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Tonight he finally looked at me and said:

ā€œI have told you exactly where I want to eat for the last three days, and you’re just ignoring me.ā€

SHIT.

He figured out my strategy.

So apparently tomorrow, during Houston Restaurant Weeks, when we could be eating at one of approximately 9,000 fabulous restaurants…

Tammy will be at the Chinese buffet.

Marriage is about sacrifice, y’all.

Next Week Is Already Exhausting Me

Monday, Welton works from home, which is perfect because trying on some of these altered clothes is apparently a two-person job.

I need somebody to zip me, button me, pull something, hold something, tell me whether something looks weird…

Poor Welton has no idea what his actual job description is anymore.

Tuesday and Thursday my teacher comes.

Wednesday and Thursday Rosie comes because she is leaving me and going to Mexico for TWO WEEKS.

I don’t know who approved this vacation, but it certainly wasn’t me. šŸ˜‚

I ordered Rosie and me these cute aprons from Amazon, and I took them to my cousin to have funny sayings put on them. She has worked at the monogram shop for more than 30 years, so hopefully I can get those picked up before Rosie comes this week.

I also have to go into town to see my alterations guy.

Then I have to go pick up MORE stuff from my alterations lady in Katy.

I have a table full of crap.

I have clothes to try on.

And somehow I thought I was going to ā€œlock myself in the house until Tuesday.ā€

That plan really went to hell.

And Then There’s My Shopping Problem…

I have also set a little goal for myself.

I need to STOP SHOPPING.

Or at least drastically reduce the shopping.

Because y’all know I have shopped like it was my full-time occupation for the last year.

I am doing better.

I really am.

Am I doing GREAT?

No.

šŸ˜‚

I think the first step may be having my Amazon privileges revoked.

The problem with Amazon is there’s no cooling-off period.

You think, ā€œOh, I need that.ā€

CLICK.

It will be here tomorrow.

There is absolutely no opportunity for your common sense to intervene.

I Need to Get Back Into Work Mode

I also need to start getting everything ready for Round Top.

I have some REALLY cute pieces I’m going to start posting on Facebook this week. Some of them aren’t really jackets—they’re more like capes—and they are SO cute.

I’m excited to show y’all those.

And I am VERY thankful summer is almost over because summertime is always slower for me.

People still shop during the summer, obviously, but they’re spending money differently. Vacations, kids, camps, back-to-school, all the things.

Right now everybody is smack-dab in the middle of getting their kids ready for school, so I’m hoping in the next week or two everybody remembers:

Oh yeah. I need jewelry.

šŸ˜‚

My jewelry business has been slower too.

I’m still selling things—I’m not saying I’m selling NOTHING—but it’s definitely not moving like it was, and that makes me a little sad.

HOWEVER…

I have a little secret.

My jeweler usually sends me specials on Mondays, and he has already hinted that something VERY GOOD is coming.

Y’all.

I cannot tell you yet.

But when I can tell you, LISTEN TO ME.

I have scoured the internet looking at prices, and if this deal happens the way I think it’s going to happen, it is INSANE.

Like… do not call me three weeks later asking if I can still get it because I WARNED YOU insane. šŸ˜‚

Hopefully I’ll get the official okay this week and I can share it.

I was also planning to go to New York and do a live jewelry sale, but summertime just didn’t feel like the right time. I think I’m going to wait until the end of September or the beginning of October.

I think that would be SO much fun.

And probably dangerous.

For me.

Because apparently I need my shopping privileges revoked, yet I think putting myself in New York around a bunch of jewelry is a reasonable business decision.

In Other News, I Have Become Obsessed With Annie Elise

I have been watching Annie Elise approximately 24/7.

Welton found a new series with Robert De Niro in it. I watched two episodes with him, got bored, and abandoned him.

Sorry, Welton.

So now I’m back in the bedroom watching Annie Elise and listening to stories about people making absolutely TERRIBLE life choices.

I also need to see if there are new episodes of 20/20 or 48 Hours because apparently my idea of relaxing before bed is murder.

Very soothing.

Very normal.

And I Need Some Grandbaby Time ā¤ļø

I need to go get my little girl this week because I haven’t seen her, and I need to go see little Sloane Loney too.

And YES, I am still irritated with my children.

šŸ˜‚

But that has absolutely nothing to do with my granddaughters.

I’ve actually been thinking that maybe not this weekend, but sometime in the next couple of weekends, I want to grab my girl and take her somewhere fun—maybe Great Wolf Lodge or something like that.

Just Lovie and her girl having ourselves a little adventure.

Although, based on everything I just wrote, I should probably finish the 700 things currently sitting in my own house first.

So That Was My Very Productive Saturday

Basically, I started today with a plan.

I was going to run errands.

Clean off my table.

Try on my clothes.

Get organized.

Get my life together.

And prepare for the week.

Instead, I made some Instagram Stories, stayed home, avoided a Chinese buffet for one additional day, watched true crime, and moved almost everything on today’s list to tomorrow.

Productivity level: questionable.

But tomorrow is a new day.

Welton has strict instructions to physically remove me from this house if necessary.

We are finishing the errands.

We are apparently eating Chinese buffet.

And then I am coming home and GETTING MY LIFE TOGETHER.

Again.

For approximately the 47th time this year.

But you know what?

At least I’m consistent. šŸ˜‚

Love y’all.

P.S. If you see me posting from my pajamas tomorrow afternoon and I have NOT gone on my errands, somebody please call Welton and tell him he failed his one job.
