SATURDAY SHENANIGANS & A LITTLE RANT
Today was one of those days where we actually got a lot accomplished… even though we didn’t get started until ridiculously late. And considering it is now after 1:00 in the morning and I’m sitting here writing a blog, apparently I still haven’t learned how to go to bed at a normal hour.
But here we are.
First stop was supposed to be the cleaners. I have been trying to get our cleaning there for THREE DAYS. We finally pull up today around 1:00, and guess what?
CLOSED.
They aren’t supposed to close until 3:00, but apparently today they decided 1:00 sounded better. So the cleaning is still riding around with us. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe next week. Who knows at this point.
Then we headed to Katy to pick up some jackets I had altered for Round Top.
Y’all. Nobody listens to me.
Nobody.
I gave very specific instructions about how I wanted these jackets done. I get there, look at them, and she has done the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of what I told her to do.
Now, is it the end of the world? No. Are the jackets ruined? No. But does it drive me absolutely crazy when I specifically say, “Please do NOT do this,” and someone proceeds to do exactly that?
YES.
But here’s something I’m trying to get better about: once something is done and you cannot change it, how long are you going to let yourself be pissed off about it?
She sewed about 12 jackets the wrong way. They’re done. I can’t unsew them with my mind. 😂
Am I annoyed? Absolutely. Am I going to stay mad all day about something I can no longer change? Nope.
At least that’s what I told myself while silently being irritated.
From there, I went to see my cousin because I needed to drop something off and pick up some aprons she had made for Rosie and me.
And I have to brag on her son for a second because he got an offer to go play baseball at a college in Kansas!!
That is a WHOLE other blog for another day, because there’s a lot more to that story, but I am so excited for him and so happy for their family. I truly wish nothing but the absolute best for that kid. ❤️
Then it was off to my other alterations guy.
Another delightful experience with someone who rarely does exactly what I ask. 😂
And I know what some of y’all are thinking:
Tammy, why do you keep using these people?
Because at this point in my life I have realized something very important:
Everybody screws something up eventually. You just have to pick the kind of crazy you’re willing to deal with.
Customer service and workmanship are just not what they used to be. You can fire one person and go somewhere else, and eventually the new person is going to do something that drives you nuts too. So sometimes you just stick with the crazy you already know.
That may be my new life philosophy. 😂
Then we headed to the Galleria because I wanted to exchange a shirt at Alo and stop by Saks to look at a purse.
Saks did NOT have the purse.
However, they did have approximately three or four pairs of shoes that I suddenly felt I could not possibly continue living without.
Funny how that works.
After the Galleria, we went to Latuli for dinner, and I already gave y’all the full food rundown on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, so I’m not going to make you hear it all again. But I will say this: our bartender, Wesley, was an absolute GEM. He has only been there a couple of weeks, and he was so sweet and so much fun. We loved him.
Then we went to Best Buy, where I finally bought myself a Skylight Calendar!
I’m actually really excited about this thing, and once I’ve used it for a little while, I’ll give y’all a real review and tell you whether it’s worth the money or whether I just bought another gadget I didn’t need.
Either outcome is entirely possible.
Next stop: Target.
I was trying to find that viral moisturizer/tinted cream situation from e.l.f. and whoever they collaborated with—I cannot remember right now because, again, IT IS ONE O’CLOCK IN THE MORNING.
Of course, it was sold out.
Then Kohl’s to make a return, where naturally I somehow left with two new pillows.
Do I need two new pillows?
No.
Will I probably return them?
Yes.
This is a very normal cycle in my life. Buy pillows. Bring pillows home. Stare at pillows. Decide I hate pillows. Return pillows. Repeat.
Finally, we came home, watched a little telly, and now I’m ready for bed.
But NONE of that is actually why I started writing this blog.
I wrote this entire thing because there is something I desperately need to get off my chest.
THE SMELL OF MARIJUANA AT THE GALLERIA.
Y’ALL.
I know this is going to sound ugly. I know people smoke marijuana. I know people love marijuana. I know somebody is going to tell me it’s better than alcohol—and you know what?
It probably is.
But I absolutely cannot stand the smell.
I HATE IT.
Every single time I go to the Galleria, I smell marijuana. I smell it walking through the mall. I smell it around people. And then today I walked outside Saks to the valet and it absolutely REEKED of it.
It was like I had accidentally walked into Marijuana Fest 2026.
And before anybody starts—I am not making some grand moral statement about marijuana. Smoke it, don’t smoke it, that’s your business.
I am talking about the SMELL.
I cannot describe how much I hate that smell.
I would rather smell dog shit.
There. I said it.
Dog. Shit.
And what kills me is that you cannot escape it anymore. You’re just innocently walking along, minding your own business, thinking about the shoes you absolutely did not need at Saks, and suddenly—
BAM.
Eau de Weed.
So there you have it.
I dragged y’all through my cleaners being closed, two alteration people who don’t listen to me, a college baseball offer, Alo, Saks, shoes, Latuli, Best Buy, Target, Kohl’s and two pillows I will probably return…
just so I could tell you how much I hate the smell of marijuana.
That was literally the entire purpose of this blog.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
Now I can go to bed. 😂
