The Birthday Wish That Came True
The Birthday Wish That Came True
You guys… today is my birthday.
But that’s not the only reason August 3rd is my favorite day of the year anymore.
It’s also my sweet little Elliot’s birthday.
And if you know me, then you know that little girl completely stole my heart from the moment I found out she existed.
Now let me tell y’all why sharing a birthday with her means so much to me.
I was actually born on my dad’s birthday.
August 3rd.
Without getting into a long story—because that’s a blog for another day—my relationship with my dad has never really been what I wished it had been. My grandmother raised me, and she was my person.
So for most of my life, August 3rd was just… my birthday.
Then God gave me Elliot.
She wasn’t even supposed to be born on August 3rd.
Her due date was August 11th.
But here’s something y’all may not know about me…
I am the queen of manifesting.
Laugh if you want to.
Roll your eyes.
Think I’m crazy.
I don’t care. 😂
The people closest to me know I’m constantly manifesting things. In fact, I’ve had friends call me and say, “Tammy… will you manifest this for me?”
I’m serious!
One day I’ll write a whole blog about it because I’ve got some stories that’ll make y’all wonder.
So every single day, I kept saying…
“She’s going to be born on my birthday.”
Over…
and over…
and over again.
I just knew it.
Now, when Jake and Taylor first told us they were expecting, we were going through a rough patch. That’s another story for another day, too.
Thankfully, by the time Elliot was ready to make her grand entrance, we were all one big happy family again.
Then I came up with what I thought was the greatest deal ever.
I told Jake and Taylor…
“If Elliot is born on my birthday, then I get to be in the delivery room.”
Taylor looked at me like I had completely lost my mind. 😂
But…
They agreed.
We shook on it.
The bet was on.
Well…
Apparently I manifested a little too well.
In the middle of the night on August 3rd, my phone started blowing up.
Here’s the problem…
My husband, Welton, cannot stand hearing me type on my phone when we’re trying to sleep.
Click…
Click…
Click…
Click…
So every night, I silence my phone.
That night…
Jake was calling.
Texting.
Calling again.
And I slept right through every single bit of it.
The only reason I finally saw my phone was because I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.
Y’all…
I had WON THE BET.
Elliott was being born on my birthday!
And I MISSED IT.
Can y’all even imagine??
I could have been standing right there in that delivery room.
Instead…
I was sound asleep. 😂
I still laugh about it.
Of course, I rushed to the hospital and got to meet my sweet girl almost immediately.
The minute I laid eyes on her, I was absolutely in love.
And every year since then, when August 3rd rolls around…
I don’t just celebrate another birthday.
I celebrate our birthday.
There’s something so incredibly special about sharing that day with my very first grandbaby.
I know one day, when Elliot is old enough to understand, she’ll think it’s pretty cool that Lovie and she have the same birthday.
At least…
I hope she does. ❤️
Happy Birthday to my sweet little birthday twin.
I loved you before I ever held you.
I manifested you onto my birthday…
…and somehow, God said yes.
And that will always be one of my favorite stories.
⸻
❤️ P.S. Before y’all ask… yes, I also knew Sloane was coming early.
But that’s another birthday blog for another year. 😂
