Tech Tuesday: Today’s Lesson… AI Isn’t as Smart as We Think 🤦♀️😂
Alright y’all… today was Tech Tuesday, and my teacher came over because I knew I had to stop avoiding the stuff that’s holding me hostage.
I can make content all day long, but when it comes to reels, carousels, boards, CapCut, Instagram Edits… whew. That’s where the wheels fall off. I’ve tried playing with all of them, but after about 10 minutes I’m ready to throw my phone straight out the window. Anybody else? 😂
So last night I was laying in bed thinking, there has to be an AI program where I can just dump all my videos in, tell it what I want, and it’ll magically make me a perfect reel.
Well… there are.
Actually, there are hundreds of them.
The problem? Most of the good ones don’t offer a free trial. They want you to pay upfront, and some of them were anywhere from $80 to over $300 a year. I wasn’t exactly excited about spending that kind of money without knowing if I’d even like it.
Then this morning I woke up and my teacher had already made me two reels. Y’all… I was so excited! Were they perfect? No. But she’s learning too, and I was honestly impressed. It made me think, Okay… today is going to be productive.
When she got here, I said, “Let’s just pick one of these AI programs and see what happens.”
We found one for $80 a year, and I finally said, “You know what? I waste $80 on dumb stuff all the time. Let’s do it.”
So we bought it.
At first I thought I’d found the Holy Grail.
I was over here yelling, “HALLELUJAH! PRAISE JESUS! THIS IS IT!”
For about… fifteen minutes. 😂
Then reality set in.
For quick little videos? It’s actually pretty good.
For polished, professional content? Not so much.
AI is amazing, but I think people give it way more credit than it deserves. It’s getting there, but it’s still not nearly as smart as we think it is.
So… the wind came out of my sails just a little bit.
The good news? I didn’t waste my money. It’ll absolutely help me with smaller projects.
The bad news? I’m still going to have to learn CapCut and Instagram Edits the old-fashioned way.
So Thursday, when my teacher comes back, that’s exactly what we’re doing. We’ll practice, mess things up, laugh, probably say a few bad words, and eventually I’ll figure it out.
It may take me a month…
It may take me six months…
Y’all know the saying… old dogs and new tricks. 😂
I think my biggest struggle isn’t that I can’t learn it.
It’s that I have zero patience.
Going through clips…
Finding the right spot…
Cutting…
Moving things around…
That part makes me want to lose my ever-loving mind.
But today was a win.
I actually posted an ALO outfit, created a link, and learned a lot.
One thing I did figure out is that Instagram makes sharing affiliate links ridiculously easy. Facebook? Not so much.
On Facebook you usually have to tell people to comment for the link, put it in the comments, or occasionally add it to the post. Instagram definitely wins that battle.
So… we’re making progress, one frustrating lesson at a time.
I’ll be back Thursday with another Tech Tuesday… well, technically it’ll be Thursday Tech. 😂
And if y’all aren’t following me yet, I’d absolutely love it if you would!
Most of y’all already follow my original Facebook page, but I’m really trying to grow my new Facebook page too.
Just search Tammy Witt and you’ll find me.
And don’t forget to follow me on Instagram too!
Now excuse me while I go practice not throwing my phone out the window. 😂❤️
