Why I Love AI… and Why It Makes Me Want to Throw My Phone Out the Window
Y’all… we rely on AI way more than we probably should.
I know I do.
I talk to ChatGPT more than I talk to my husband some days. 😂
Seriously… I probably ask it for help ten times a day. Blog ideas. Social media captions. Decorating. Shopping. Life advice. You name it.
And for the most part…
I LOVE it.
It has honestly changed my life.
But let me tell y’all…
Tonight, I was ready to throw my phone straight through the living room window.
Now, if you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you know my short-term memory is absolutely terrible.
I write EVERYTHING down.
My Notes app…
Pieces of paper…
My planner…
Sticky notes…
If I don’t physically write it down, there’s a good chance it’s gone forever.
So last night I thought…
“You know what? ChatGPT said it would remember things for me.”
Perfect.
I was planning out my blog for the next few days, and I had four blog ideas pop into my head.
I specifically told Chat…
“Please remember these four blog ideas for me.”
Simple enough, right?
WRONG.
Tonight I sat down all excited to write my next blog.
I asked Chat to pull up my list.
That fool acted like he’d never met me before.
He started giving me all kinds of stuff I never even asked for.
I’m sitting there yelling…
“THAT IS NOT WHAT I SAID!”
I was so mad.
Y’all…
If ChatGPT had been a real person sitting beside me…
He would’ve been in danger. 😂
I seriously almost woke my husband up because I was over there arguing with my phone.
And before anybody says…
“Tammy… it’s just AI.”
I KNOW.
But when you use something every single day, you start depending on it.
And when it lets you down…
It is frustrating.
I still don’t remember what those other blog ideas were.
They’re just… gone.
Now, while I’m already on my little rant…
Let me tell y’all what else happened tonight.
My social media teacher told me I need to quit filming everything in my bedroom mirror.
Which… she’s right.
The problem is…
We live in a rental house.
Half of my life is still sitting in storage.
My bedroom furniture.
Holiday decorations.
Pictures.
Furniture.
Y’all know how I decorate for Christmas, Halloween, Easter…
It’s all packed away.
For THREE YEARS I haven’t even decorated like I normally do.
So I’ve been trying to make my living room look good enough to film content without spending a fortune.
This is where Chat can be absolutely amazing.
I can upload a picture of my room, and sometimes it’ll redesign it so beautifully that I’m convinced it deserves its own HGTV show.
Other times…
I give it the EXACT candle I want from Pottery Barn…
The EXACT vase…
The EXACT decor…
…and somehow it ignores every single thing I uploaded and gives me something that looks like it came from a yard sale on another planet.
WHY?!
I literally handed you the picture!
Just use THAT one!
It’s like AI gets distracted halfway through and starts freelancing.
That’s exactly how I feel about the AI video editor I’ve been playing with too.
Can it do simple things?
Absolutely.
Can it save me time?
Definitely.
But the second you ask it to juggle too many things…
It completely loses its mind.
So here’s my opinion…
AI is incredible.
It has changed the way I work.
It has helped me write blogs.
It has helped me decorate.
It has helped me shop.
It has helped me with social media.
But…
It is NOT perfect.
Not even close.
And tonight…
It drove me absolutely crazy.
Anyway…
That’s my rant.
This wasn’t really a blog.
It was more of a therapy session. 😂
It’s almost 1:30 in the morning.
I should’ve been asleep hours ago because tomorrow I have to do everything I was supposed to do today…
Plus everything I was actually supposed to do tomorrow.
Then Saturday is Elliott’s birthday party, and Lord knows that’ll probably turn into another blog all by itself.
Now…
I’m going to bed.
And Chat…
Don’t screw anything else up while I’m asleep. 😂
